I grew up in Maine, just as comfortable in coveralls and muck boots at low tide as I was sketching houses, writing poetry curled up on a screened porch, or dreaming up couture dresses. I have always sought out a way to do things more creatively, more fashionably, and with more style while staying true to my Portland roots. Creativity comes in all kinds of forms. It can be writing in a journal, re-arranging furniture, drawing, painting, arranging flowers solving a problem or cooking a great meal. We all are creative our own ways.
My favorite January through February end of the day treat is to walk into Scales in Portland , sit at the bar or in the lounge with friends and devour dozens of oysters on the half shell. It has become a winter ritual and with happy hour prices from 4 to 6 Sunday through Thursday, nothing can be better.
I am back. I launched this website just before the pandemic struck and then hit writer’s block in the worst way. Each time I sat down to write during the past eight or is it nine? months, I lost track. I couldn’t focus. Everything I considered writing about seemed trivial, clouded by the seriousness of what was going on around us. I froze.
